About the Network

The Atlantic Canada Universities and Colleges Sustainability Network was created in 2008 to facilitate information sharing and cooperative initiatives among post-secondary institutions in the region. Membership is open to universities and colleges located in Atlantic Canada. Institutions are represented primarily by staff responsible for sustainability initiatives on campus. Interuniversity Services Inc. serves as the administrative partner for the organization.

Executive Committee

The executive committee is comprised of representatives from each province in Atlantic Canada, includes both the college and university sectors, a member of the Canadian Association of University and College Sustainability Professionals (CUSP) and the CEO of Interuniversity Services Inc.

NFL:  Toby Rowe, Sustainability Coordinator, Memorial University

Working Groups

Working Groups are formed on an ad hoc basis to explore issues relevant to members and facilitate collaborative initiatives. Current Working Groups include:

  • Joint Procurement

  • Interuniversity Residence Energy Challenge

  • Sustainable Food Service
    Jodie Noiles – Acadia, David Davidson – ISI

Sustainability Associations

Many members of AUSCN are also members of AASHE – the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and the Canadian Alliance of College and University Sustainability Professionals.
